FAQ

How much would it cost to…?

Labour is £35-£50 depending on the work involved.

The vast majority of jobs will be £35 (certainly any that don’t involve taking a laptop apart), but I will make it clear as to what the labour charge is before doing any work.

If parts are required, I would let you know about any additional costs before proceeding, there’s no obligation, and if I can’t/don’t fix it for whatever reason, there’s no charge.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Preferably, yes.

I work from home so am quite flexible about hours, and while it’s not a problem if you turn up unexpectedly (within working hours!), I do occasionally depart my lair, so there’s a chance I may be out - best to confirm an approximate time beforehand.

How long will the repair take?

Most jobs are completed within a day or 2 (some can be finished the same day), unless parts need to be ordered which can then become 3 or 4 days depending on delivery times.

Occasionally, more complex/unusual issues can take longer.

How do I pay?

Cash or card are good. If you want to pay by bank transfer, you’d need to do this before collection.

Do you do home/work visits?

No.

I used to do this, but after spending too much time stuck in our fair city’s wonderful traffic system, have decided it’s just not worth it, sorry.

Do you fix Macs?

Absolutely not.

Sorry, but my own lack of experience with them, plus Apple’s attitude towards third party repairs/parts availability means it’s not worth the hassle.

Can I take your dogs home with me?

No.

More seriously, while they bark like lunatics when you approach the door, they’re very friendly (Olive especially so, while Daisy is more reserved).

If you do have a fear/allergy (we also have cats) let me know beforehand and I can shut them away.

I can’t find your house!

This is usually from a phone when stood outside number 35 Radnor Road.

House numbers stop at 35 Radnor Road, but then continue a little way up the road.

(4 new yellow houses have been inserted instead of some old factory buildings).

Most people seem to be able to work this out, but this occasionally stumps a few.

BTW, who are you?

Born way, way back in 1967, I spent 17 years in the casino industry in various positions and countries before deciding to ‘settle down’ back in Bristol in 2003, subsequently working for a large IT company for the next 7 years before deciding to go it alone.

The rest is history…(Click here if you are interested)
